The evaluation

MY EVALUATION

Here is my evaluation of my AS coursework creating and making my own title sequence.

My Title Sequence Estate, Uses and Challenges the codes and conventions by introducing the characters and the director to the audience using the type face of my film title and used it for my credits. The typeface is called Pistol grip and is a street style type, which fits with my title sequence. For my title sequence I have gone against the codes and conventions in the way in which I have chose to introduce the setting instead of the characters, as I feel we already know what their going to be like. So I introduce the location of my film and make the audience get a feel for the estate. I use street rap sound track to set the style of the film and the culture of the film. The sound track changes how we look at the estate. We shoot the estate in a negative way and using camera shots like the driving past one to show u should pass the estate and never stop to look at it. The 1st person camera shot tries to show you the fear of the person in the estate all this is done purposely to set a mood and sense to the audience that the estate is dangerous and creates enigma getting the audience thinking. This is how I use the conventions of a title sequence getting the audience to ask questions and getting them hooked.

Social realism I feel is the best genre and is a genre that we use most of all to make British films. It has shown us to ourselves, pushing the boundaries in the effort to put the experiences of real Britons on the screen, and showing our ideas of what British people in certain areas, class and race experience in their life times. And create all sorts of emotion to the viewer. This is why I have choose to make my film a British film on the genre social realism to show the audience the current situation we are facing now youth crime.
My title sequence represents the social issues of today in the way we view the younger generations and how the media have stereo typed teenagers as yobs. The big picture of my film is about a teenager battling through the rough and futureless estate and beat the stereotype and the pressure of being in a gang and makes something of his life. I feel my title sequence represents this in the way I show the estates of certain areas of the country. And relates to a social group. Which is why I chose to do a British film.

I think the distributor who would distribute my film would be a distribution company like revolver entertainment who have distributed British films like kidult hood sequel adulthood which show the social issues of young teenagers which is in the style of my film and other British films like dead man running and city rats these films are social issues on gangs and drugs. I feel this company would distribute my film.
Because it’s a British film and the storey is one, which interests the nation at this time with all the media, going on about yobs and knife crime.

My main audience for my film is young teenagers between 15-19 but also I aim to attract young adults and parents of teenagers to show a different view to teenagers. And how their child could be in trouble.

I attracted my audience by using a non- dietetic sound of the news, which is about knife crime I feel this immediately introduce what my film is about to the audience and create enigma. I feel it is effective and a great way to start my film. I address the audience in a formative and serious way introducing my film in a media way.

I have learnt that the technologies I used to construct my title sequence that u can film loads of film and cut all different parts together to create a piece of work with a bit of quality. And the technologies help students like me create a piece of work that looks like a real title sequence.

I have learnt that as I have gone through this whole project on my own that it helps and works better to have other people’s ideas and opinions to help improve the final piece I feel that it lacks actors, which I feel would have made it better, overall I feel it works and is a satisfactory piece of work.

ESTATE NEW SONG VERSION

JUST NEW SONG ADDED NEEDS NEW SHOTS AND IMPROVE TITLES ALL CALMING DOWN THE SONG AT THE END

From my first attempt of editing my title sequence. I have shortened the off screen diegetic sound as it was too long i have changed my main song to a more of street style song composed by someone in the music as group. i feel there is a few more changes such as slowing the sound down at the end of the title sequence.

TITLE SEQUENCE ATTEMPT 1

As my first attempt i feel it went well . There is a few changes such as the off screen sound being too long, i feel i may need to re shoot for certain parts of the title sequence i have know characters in my sequence. So i may film some and bring them in to my sequence. the main song works but not showing what i need so i will be looking for a new song choice and have some credits to the blank screen as people begin to loose interest or dont know if the title sequence works. So i am going to add the director credit in the blank section to make it clear that its a blank screen.

This is my film poster i created this to give me and my examiner a better idea of what my film could look like productively and realisticly this is the reason i have made one.

MY OPINION AND THOUGHTS

AS I HAVE WORKED ON MY OWN I FEEL I HAVE ACHIEVED AND WORKED WELL THERE ARE THINGS THAT COULD BE IMPROVED TO MAKE IT MORE BETTER. I FEEL IT WOULD OF BEEN BETTER WITH IT INTRODUCTION OF SOME CHARACTERS. BUT AS I WAS WORKING ON MY OWN AND COULD NOT GET NO ONE TO ACT I WENT FOR A TITLE SEQUENCE WHICH SHOWED THE BACKGROUND AND SETTING OF MY FILM TO GET THE AUDIENCE TO SEE THE AREA OF WHERE MY YOUNG CHARACTER IS FIGHTING TO GET AWAY FROM AND LEAVE BEHIND HIM.

SONG CHOICE AND WHY

I had originally chose track 2 of the old school beats. Because it sounded effective when playing it to my movie but didn't suit my genre i was creating. And id was purchased from itunes.I was looking for something in the style of kidulthood and adulthood so i got a composed pieced by someone in the school doing music. It seem to make the title sequence more street giving that effect i need.
